Crossroads Medieval
Village Cooperative
Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to stay on site yet?

It certainly is. Although the visitor cabins have not been completed, the site is able to be used for camping and bushwalking. If you would like to camp overnight there is a $5 per head charge for the use of the site.

Is there employment available nearby?

The town of Yass is close by, and Canberra only 45 minutes drive. In the future there will be employment actually within the Crossroads village, but currently no employment opportunities exist within Crossroads itself. Overseas citizens should note that the Australian Immigration Department has specific requirements for working visas.

Can I visit the site?

Certainly. Email us with a bit of notice and we will arrange for a member to show you around. We appreciate a donation if you have a tour.

Crossroads is a cooperative, what does that mean?

Our group was established as a co-operative because it guarantees all our members an equal say in the achievement of our common goal: a superb facility for medievalists, and a model for environmentally sustainable development.

A co-op is similar in many respects to a conventional company, with the "one member, one vote" rule and adherence to the international co-operative principles.

Are donations to Crossroads tax deductible?

No; although Crossroads is a non-profit organisation, it is not a charitable concern and therefore donations are not tax deductible. However, the fact that Crossroads is a non-profit cooperative means that every cent you donate MUST be spent on Crossroads.

Can I own a building?

Members will be able to buy blocks in a residential subdivision: read the full story here.

How do I become a member?

Take a look at our Membership page for full details on how to join Crossroads. If you've already made up your mind (terrific!) - here's the form.
